Inspiration through Wine Travel
It may not be easy to see how inspiration through wine travel is possible. I have taken some time to reflect and do some inventory of my own life and I hope that I can help others see what I have learned. In this post, I will speak on how my experiences have inspired me to try things, encouraged me to keep moving and to enjoy the blessings of life, down to the tiniest ones. I hope that you will read this post in its entirety (It’s an easy read) and then reflect on your own life. My call to action is that you share in the comments something positive which you have reflected on once you’re done reading.
This week I chose not to post on a winery or wine-things in general because I have had some experiences recently that have made me pause. The important part is the ‘pause’. Because in that, I have gained intel on what makes Brandon- The Guy tick. I have realized how much it builds me up to be able to encourage others (check out HGG’s mission page here). Whether that is through words, supportive action or something as simple as a smile, I gain just as much joy in giving encouragement as I hope others receive from it.
Now, how does wine travel inspire me you ask? That is a question that I repeat to myself often…and the answer changes often as well. The reason I ask myself this question often is because in my former career of education, I had a multitude of opportunities in which to help others. Now being in a career that sees me writing often and working with a product meant for those 21 and over as well as its being of ultimate choice to partake in, those opportunities don’t seem as numerous. So I question myself as to how I am helping others. Wine travel also inspires me to look inwardly. When I travel, whether I am alone or with a friend, I must be aware of my surroundings at all times as well as how I impact that atmosphere. For example, in my post, The Culture of Visiting Wineries, I talk about knowing thy limit and being aware of your surroundings for the safety of self and others (numbers 2 and 3 respectively). If I am inebriated, there is no way I can do that. In addition, I get a chance to see what makes me happy because in turn, happy people make people happy. Now I’m not talking about people pleasing, let’s be clear on that. I simply mean that if you are a happy person, genuinely, then you will spread that happiness to others. Usually with minimal to no effort. Osmosis at work.
Many may say, “Well, why not just travel? You don’t have to indulge in alcohol to get all that you are seeking.”. Many would not necessarily be wrong in that sentiment. However, the phrase, “Do what makes you happy”, is very fitting as a response. If one doesn’t understand that it is not the wine or alcohol or spirit that makes a person happy, then they won’t understand the passion for it. I have yet to talk to a vintner aka winemaker, grape grower or any farmer who does not passionately tend to their work. There are many parts that are frustrating, but those parts pale in comparison to the fruits (literally) of their labor. As a wine lover, I feel the same. Which is why you don’t hear me speaking of going to the store to pick up a bottle of wine. There is nothing wrong with it, but I prefer going to a winery. Honestly, it is something I rarely do these days because the experience of being at the winery, on the grounds where it was made surpasses just drinking a glass of wine. Having gone to the winery, you’re tasting not only the nuances of the grapes and terroir, but also the hard work, dedication and love of the people who had any part in making that wine. In addition, the phrase, ‘Touch grass’ comes to mind because you get a chance to connect with nature in many ways during a winery visit.
In short, wine travel inspires me to be better, do better and seek better. For myself and for others.

Nice! I hope more people understand that encouragement is a gift that is 360°. A gift to the giver and the receiver. Thanks for sharing!
